What potassium
humate flakes actually are
A short, honest definition — the same one your technical team will use when they evaluate the COA.
Potassium humate flakes are the potassium salt of humic acid, produced by alkaline extraction of leonardite and then flaked as it dries. They are sold as a raw material — not a finished fertilizer — to blenders, formulators and distributors who either repack them or use them as a carbon and chelating component in NPK, water-soluble and organic blends.
Why the source matters more than the number on the bag
Two suppliers can both print "70% humic acid" and behave completely differently in your blend. The difference is the raw material: leonardite is a highly oxidised, young coal with high active humic content and low ash; lignite is cheaper and carries more inert material. Leonardite-derived product dissolves to a clear reddish-brown solution; lignite product often leaves sediment.
We use leonardite and test solubility per batch, which is why our flakes hold up in hard water and in high-concentration liquid blends. If a quote looks 30% below the market, the first question to ask is which source the material came from — and to request the COA before the proforma.
What you receive with every order
- Batch COA — humic acid, K2O, fulvic acid, moisture, pH, solubility, heavy metals
- MSDS for your safety file, plus ISO and REACH documentation for registration
- Loading photos and container number once the goods are in the box
- Shelf-life guidance — keep bags sealed and dry; flakes are hygroscopic
Grades you can put in a contract
Two standard grades are produced continuously. Custom humic acid levels between 60% and 70% can be produced to order; higher purity is available on the super grade.
| Property | Standard grade | High grade |
|---|---|---|
| 01Humic acid (dry basis) | 60-65% | 70% min |
| 02Potassium (K2O, dry basis) | 8-10% | 10-12% |
| 03Fulvic acid (dry basis) | 15-20% | 20-50% |
| 04Water solubility | ≥95% | ≥99% |
| 05Moisture | ≤15% | ≤15% |
| 06pH (1% solution) | 9-11 | 9-11 |
| 07Appearance | Black shiny flakes | Black shiny flakes |
| 08Particle size | 1-3 mm | 1-3 mm |
| 09Heavy metals | Reported in COA | Reported in COA |
Flakes, powder or
granules?
Same chemistry, different handling. Pick by how you will dose it, not by price per bag.
| Form | Dissolves in | Best for | Dust |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01Flakes (1-3 mm) | 2-3 minutes | Blending, repacking, all-round use | Low |
| 02Powder (80-100 mesh) | Under 1 minute | Foliar spray, fertigation | High |
| 03Granules (2-4 mm) | 10+ minutes | Soil broadcast, NPK granule blends | None |

How it ships
Standard export packing with liner, palletised on request. We confirm the exact loading plan before booking.
Bags are PP/PE laminated with an inner liner to limit moisture pick-up. Private-label printing is available — see the OEM page for minimums and lead time. Mixed containers (flakes + powder + super grade) are possible on request.
Flakes absorb moisture. Store on pallets, keep bags sealed, and use within 24 months of production.
Potassium humate flakes FAQ
What is the difference between potassium humate flakes, powder and granules?
All three are the same chemistry in a different physical form. Flakes dissolve in 2-3 minutes and generate very little dust, which makes them the default choice for blenders and for repacking. Powder (80-100 mesh) dissolves fastest and is used for foliar sprays and fertigation, but it is dusty to handle. Granules (2-4 mm) dissolve slowly and are used for soil broadcasting or blending with NPK granules.
What is your MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is 1 metric ton for standard 25 kg bags, which lets you test the product on a real shipment before scaling. Production and packing take 15 days after payment; we book the vessel as soon as packing is confirmed and send you the loading photos.
Can I get a free sample before ordering?
Yes. We send 500 g - 1 kg samples at no charge; you cover the courier account or we ship freight collect. Every sample ships with the batch COA so your lab can compare the numbers against the spec sheet.
Do you supply COA and MSDS with each shipment?
Every batch is tested in our QC lab and issued with its own COA (humic acid, K2O, fulvic acid, moisture, pH, water solubility, heavy metals). MSDS is issued per product. Both are also available before you order, so your registration team can review them first.
Is your potassium humate suitable for drip irrigation?
Yes, provided the grade is fully water soluble and filtered. Our flakes reach >= 99% solubility with no flocculation in hard water at 250 ppm Ca, which is the practical test for drip lines. We recommend a 120-mesh filter and a jar test with your local water before the first full application.
